CRI NAMED A FINALIST FOR BRICKFISH CONTEST

UPDATE (2/14/12): Congratulations to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, who was awarded the Grand Prize. CRI appreciates all the supporters who promoted and voted for our entry. Common Roots Initiative (CRI) was named a finalist for Brickfish's "Tell Your Story... and Make a Difference" contest, thanks to hundreds of votes cast by supporters in December 2011. Only the Top 5-ranked nonprofits were included in the final consideration pool for the $50,000 social-media campaign prize.

CRI REACHES SECOND ROUND OF BRICKFISH CONTEST

Common Roots Initiative (CRI) entered Brickfish’s “Tell Your Story... and Make a Difference” contest on November 28, 2011, for a chance to win a $50,000 social media campaign. Votes from supporters helped CRI reach the second round of the competition in early December! All CRI needs now is more votes.

PROVISO EAST CLASS OF 1996 ALUMNI MAKE MAJOR DONATION TO CRI STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP

Proviso East High School’s Class of 1996 donated $800 to Common Roots Initiative (CRI) to be used toward CRI’s student scholarship. The Class of 1996 requested that their donation go to a Class of 2012 Proviso East graduate pursuing higher education. The class gift was presented to CRI after the Class of 1996 celebrated its 15-year reunion the weekend of September 16. The PEHS Class of 1996 Reunion Planning Committee decided that collaborating with CRI to provide the scholarship was a good fit.

CRI HOLDS SUCCESSFUL OAK PARK GARAGE SALE AS ITS FIRST FUNDRAISER

Common Roots Initiative raised more than $500 during its first fundraiser – an end-of-summer local garage sale. 

CRI, a 501(c)(3) incorporated nonprofit dedicated to providing scholarships to college-bound students and cash-strapped teachers in the suburban Cook County area, held the garage sale on August 13 and August 14, 2011, at the Oak Park home of executive board member Jonathan Bus.
