2014 CRI STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT CHOSEN

Common Roots Initiative is proud to announce our Student Scholarship winner for Spring 2014: Liliana Uriostegui. 

Liliana Uriostegui, a senior at Proviso East High School (PEHS) and Maywood resident, plans to pursue a career in pediatric oncology.  She aspires to attend Hawaii Pacific University.  Liliana is an active volunteer at St. Ealalia Parish in Maywood.

TWO TEACHERS TO RECEIVE CRI $1,000 SCHOLARSHIP

Common Roots Initiative’s outreach to west suburban teachers has doubled this year, thanks to strong community support and two fantastic teachers.

CRI has awarded the CRI 2013 Teacher Scholarship to educators at Proviso East High School — Ashley Glickman, an English teacher and Alexander Aschoff, a Science teacher. They will receive $1,000 each to fund their classroom initiatives.

CRI AWARDS FOURTH CONSECUTIVE $1,000 SCHOLARSHIP TO WEST SUBURBAN STUDENT

Antony Greenhow, a senior at Proviso East High School (PEHS) and Maywood resident, plans to pursue a psychology degree at Southern Illinois University. Common Roots Initiative (CRI) awarded Greenhow its $1,000 Spring 2013 Student Scholarship to help him achieve that goal. This is the fourth consecutive $1,000 scholarship CRI has provided since the charity began giving financial assistance to students and educators in 2012.

CRI AWARDS SECOND TEACHER SCHOLARSHIP OF 2012

Common Roots Initiative has awarded its second $1,000 teacher scholarship to Edward Beidas, an Aviation and AP Physics educator at Proviso East High School (Maywood, IL). He plans to use the scholarship to fund field trips for aviation students. CRI is proud to have awarded a total of $3,000 during its first year of giving, as it aims to support west suburban Chicago students and teachers in pursuing academic goals. In this case, it’s exciting to help fund a unique learning opportunity that could be a life-changing experience for students.
